Odiya style anda tadka. A comforting, Protein rich dal with scrambled egg i.e egg bhurji. This contained an assortment of dal cooked with spices,green chilies. Anda tadka is commonly available at Dhabas in Odisha and a few other parts of India as well. Smoky flavourful dal (lentils), egg bhuriji with a good amount of green chillies and coriander leaves.
I love dhabas and the kind of rustic flavourful dishes they offer. I remember those days in college when traveling home for vacations, the buses used to stop near dhabas for dinner. If you have ever been to Cuttack or Bhubaneswar you would have had the best Dahi baras there….
Here I am with another dish which used to be a must during winter back home. Fresh palak and matar in a soupy, spicy curry form. It has lots of tomatoes too, which makes this slightly tangy. It pairs so well with both rice and roti.
After staying for so long away from home, I have forgotten a lot of dishes that I used to have at home. With so many food options available there are many simple dishes that have slipped my mind. Now that I have a blog and I have wonderful readers like you all, I am going to share all those neglected recipes. They might not be exotic dishes, rather simple homestyle food.
Palak Matar Curry ( Spinach and Green Peas Curry)
- 6 Cups Spinach Palak Chopped Fresh /
- 1 cups Peas Fersh / Matar
- 1.5 tbsps vegetable oil
- 2 onions Medium , Finely chopped
- 1 tbspn ginger garlic Paste
- 3 tomato Medium size , Chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 5 tsps coriander powder
- 5 tspns fennel powder
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tspn chilli Powder
- to taste salt
- coriander for garnishing
- In a pot heat enough water, once water start to boil add little bit of salt. Add 6 cups of chopped palak. Switch off the gas and let the palak sit in hot water for 5 minutes.
- Drain in a colander and place under running cold water to stop it from cooking further.
- In a pan heat oil. Add chopped onion. Fry till the onions strats to brown. Add Ginger garlic paste. Fry till the raw smell goes off.
- Add chopped tomato. Cook till the tomatoes are softened. Add all the spices. Cook until the oil starts to separate from sides.
- Add green peas. Saute for 4-5 minutes along with spices.
- Add blanched palak/spinach. Mix well and saute for 5 minutes.
- Add water as per required consistancy. Bring it to boil.
- Serve hot with rice or phulkas.

Mumbai has its own twist to its Vada pav, Chats, and Bhel. Though these street foods are available in other parts of India, the preparation is different with respect to each place, so is the taste….
I have been away from blogging and social media from a while now.It was my sisters wedding and I was having a gala time with my family. Its been 12 long years I am staying away from my parents and even the thought of visiting them excites me. Chit chatting with the sisters, revisiting the childhood memories, ohh so yummy food by mom and lots of pampering by parents. So now you know why I was away from blooging.
