Baked Pears Recipe

Pears filled with a crunchy mixture of walnut, brown sugar, butter, and spices, then baked until tender. The pan sauce is perfect to drizzle on top. Serve it as a dessert with a scoop of ice cream or eat it as a snack or even for breakfast.

Equipment

  • 1 Oven to bake the pears
  • 1 Baking Tray to lay the pears on
  • 1 Bowl to mix the spices and other ingredients
  • 1 Sheet Foil to cover the pears for baking

Ingredients

  • 4 pear
  • ¾ cup chopped walnut
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon Maple Syrup
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Cut pears into half lengthwise. Keep the stem on if possible.
  • Use a melon scoop or a spoon, to remove the seed and core. Cut a small slice off the underside so that the pear halves stay flat when kept on the baking tray.
  • Mix melted butter and ground cinnamon. Brush the cut end of the pear with the melted butter mixture.
  • To the remaining butter mixture add chopped walnuts, brown sugar, maple syrup, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  • Fill the center cavity of the pears with a heaping tablespoon of walnut mixture.
  • Pour 1/4 cup boiling water around the pears.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake it for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake it for another 10-12 minutes.
  • Serve warm with ice cream and caramel sauce.
