Amazingly crispy and Juicy Air fryer Chicken Wings are healthy with zero oil in it. With three different flavour variations, these chicken wings are always a party hit.
I can’t tell you how amazing these Air Fryer Chicken wings are. Extra crispy, Juicy centre and unlike the oven-baked version these take less than 30 minutes to make. Chicken wings made in an air fryer are far less guilty to indulge in as there is zero oil in it. I am going to share three different variations of Chicken wings, Spicy Dry Spice Rub, Garlic Herb Butter & Sticky Soy Orange Chicken wings
This is one food that is craved by everyone in the family. Not to say, they are super popular with kids too. They go as great appetizers for parties. They go off the plate in no time in parties and always get rave reviews.
Different flavours of wings are what I resort to while planning ahead for a party at home. Few of them turned out to be absolute party hits. Even my husband and daughter often demand (yep!) for a plate of wings with something light to go with it.
We have tried chicken wings in more ways than one and loved all of them. You would be surprised to know the number of flavours you can add to them. All of them will appeal to a lot of people and this surely makes this dish not boring at all.
With these easy-to-adjust recipes on flavours, you can choose to make your wings a bit mild or one with a lot of kick as per your palette.
That’s enough chatter. Let’s move on to show you all the three smacking chicken wing types that you can make. In the end, you will find a Tips section on how to make the most succulent yet crusty chicken wings. And that’s not all there is to it 🙂
Fried vs Baked vs Air Fried Chicken Wings
Yes, you read it right. Chicken wings though originated as a deep-fried dish can also be Baked or Air-fried and trust me, you will like some of the Baked and Air fried ones as much as the deep-fried one if not more.
Where the Air-fried one wins is on the healthy side. Wings are something that people tend to gorge on and one simply can’t help it. While you are at it, why not make a healthier yet delightfully delicious version of Chicken wings?
The thing what will surely surprise you is this – ” You do not need more than a spoonful of oil for an entire batch”. Yes, that precisely is why this is my preferred way to make wings. The fat in the skin is enough to fry them and make them crispy. So once you know there’s a way to make it much less unhealthy, this will be your guilt-ridden indulgence.
Best Chicken Wings
When you get crispy chicken wings in half the time and effort, then why not make them in an air fryer?
- No oil required to make these wings. In fact, when the wings get cooked the fat from the skin renders and all the excess fat gets collected at the bottom tray. So the wings turn out to be on the healthier side.
- Due to the hot air circulation method of Air fryer, wings get cooked evenly from all the sides.
- It takes half the time than the oven-baked version.
How Long to Air Fry Chicken Wings?
It ideally takes 20-25 minutes to make chicken wings in the air fryer. Cook at 400F for about 20 minutes, flipping in between for even browning.
Can We Use Frozen Wings?
I would not recommend using frozen chicken wings. For crispy skin, the skin needs to be dry and should have very less moisture. In the case of frozen chicken wings, the wings are high on moisture content. Because of moisture, the skin will not get crispy. And who loves soggy chewy wings.
Tips For Making Perfect Chicken Wings In the Air Fryer
- Make sure the wings are thawed well and at room temperature, for even cooking.
- Pat dry the chicken wings with a kitchen towel. Less moisture -> Crispy Skin
- Brush the Air Fryer basket/ tray with oil to prevent wings from sticking.
- Do not overcrowd the basket. Keep the wings in a single layer for even cooking.
- Toss / flip the wings once in between cooking for better result.

I made the dry spice wings. They were good and perfect cooking time. For me, it needed salt and I sprayed the wings before and halfway cooking with avocado oil.
This was a hit when I made them. I made the dry rub one but added thyme and oregano since i didn’t have basil. Plus I added a little cayenne pepper for a little kick. And for the sticky wings I added some dark brown sugar to the sauce. Delicious.
