While I am always on the lookout for shortcuts to cut down cooking time, I don’t mind spending an extra 10 minutes of effort, if the outcome is this good. Most recipes call for tossing cooked shredded chicken in BBQ sauce, which no doubt is convenient and saves time. But when you make BBQ chicken from scratch, it tastes so much better.
For making BBQ chicken for the wraps, I have followed a similar recipe like Our Oven Baked BBQ chicken recipe which has got some amazing reviews
Carole says:
I made this for a family picnic and the comments were above and beyond. The flavor was so good and the meat was amazingly tender. I ended up giving the recipe out to everyone. We’ll definitely make this a picnic favorite.
Just don’t settle for only BBQ sauce. Season chicken with an extra layer of seasoning ( smoked paprika, Cayenne Pepper, garlic powder, salt and pepper), sear it, and then toss it with your favorite BBQ sauce. Give this method a try and you will never make BBQ Chicken in any other way.
What you need
For BBQ Chicken
- Boneless Chicken Breast– Can use chicken thighs
- Seasoning– Blend of smoked paprika, Cayenne pepper, Garlic powder, Oregano, Salt and Pepper.

BBQ Chicken Wrap Tips
- To roll the wrap smoothly without any cracks, slightly warm the tortillas. Place tortillas on a microwave safe plate and cover with a damp paper towel. Then microwave for about 30 seconds, or until warmed through. Or you can heat it on a skillet.
- If you are consuming the wrap immediately, then toss the coleslaw mix with Mayo mustard sauce and use. But if you are not consuming immediately, then don’t mix the coleslaw with any sauce, so that the wraps will not get soggy.
- Use at least a 10 to 12-inch tortilla to hold a generous amount of stuffing.
Meal Prep and Storing
To meal prep, you can make all the components ready in advance. And assemble it just before consuming. You can also assemble l the wraps, roll individual wraps with parchment pepper, and store in a ziplock bag or air-tight container for 3-4 days.
