Bagel Chips
Thin, crispy with endless possibilities of seasoning variations, these bagel chips are anything but addictive. Season thinly sliced bagel with olive oil, butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top, then let the airfryer do its magic. Serve these crunchy little snacks with your favorite dip and they will disappear in no time.

Next time you have some stale bagels, then think no further and make these bagel chips. Brush thinly sliced bagels with a simple seasoning of butter, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, and finish it off with a generous sprinkle of parmesan before placing it in the air fryer.
It was back in 2019 while in Berlin, I had bagel chips first. I can’t remember how many packets I had inhaled then. There were so many interesting flavor variations and my favorite was the pizza one with a tangy tomato flavor. A few days back, I had a couple of stale bagels and was almost ready to throw in the bin. And all of a sudden, I remember those chips and in no time made these in an air fryer with whatever seasoning I had in hand. Air fryer is not only for making chicken wings or chicken skewers, you can do so much more.
If you are like me and love munching, then don’t tell me I didn’t warn you because these are downright delicious, and you can’t stop with a few.

Ingredients
- Bagels- Stale ones are preferred as they are easier to slice. But fresh ones will also work. Any bagels will work.
- Butter- Unsalted butter. If you are using salted butter then skip adding additional salt.
- Olive oil
- Garlic powder
- Italian seasoning- Italian seasoing or any other dried herb of your choice.
- Salt and pepper
- Parmesan cheese- Finely grated parmesan cheese as it will stick better.

Make Bagel Chips At Home
Slice Bagels- Use a sharp, serrated knife to slice. Try to cut them as thin and as uniformly as possible. I cut it slightly diagonally. Don’t bother if it’s not uniform because it won’t compromise the taste.

Mix slightly warm melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Spread sliced bagel in a single layer. Either brush them individually so that they are seasoned evenly. Or drizzle the seasoning in batches and rub it with your finger. Avoid adding all the seasoning at once, as it will not distribute evenly.

Arrange seasoned sliced bagels in a single layer. Sprinkle finely grated parmesan all over. Parmesan sticks better and evenly if sprinkled like this.
Air fry at 180 C/ 350F for 7-8 minutes. Flip and air fry again for 7-8 minutes or until the chips are evenly golden brown in color.

Can I make it in the Oven?
One advantage of making it in an oven is you can make a bigger batch. Use a large baking sheet and arrange seasoned sliced bagel slices in a single layer. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C/ 350 F for about 12-15 minutes.
Storage
These bagel chips will keep for up to two weeks in an airtight container. But I doubt they will last so long.

These Bagel Chips goes well
With various dips and spreads. Serve it as part of a charcuterie board or serve it with soups instead of croutons.
